    Bolt Catch Slop . . . .

Hey everybody I was hoping maybe someone with some knowledge might have some input on this.

So, I am assembling my second AR-15 lower and I noticed my bolt catch seems to be quite sloppy. If holding the lower in shooting position the bolt catch can move slightly forwards and backwards in its groove. I can look up into the light and see about a 1/32" gap on either side . . . so much I can see the roll pin in between the gaps ! ! ! Not sure if this will effect the overall function of the bolt catch? Premature wear? My other lower's bolt catch fit perfect but this one seems a little small. . . .

as far as parts, it is a Rock River Arms bolt catch in a Spike's st-15 lower

not sure if it matters but I did have some excess material in the bolt catch buffer hole but, got that cleaned out and seems to work fine.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. . . .

hmm...I'm no AR guru, but I've put a couple lowers together. There's going to be some gappage there. I just took a look at one of my complete lowers, and my to be assembled 80% and DPMS LPK bolt catch. One has a very small gap and I suppose there is about a 1/32 gap on either side on the 80% w/DPMS. I honestly never really paid attention before. I don't see any reason why it'd be an issue though. Run with it.

Thanks for the input. My first build had no real movement but, number two seems to slide around a small amount in the groove. I thought I had read on here some people were using shims to correct some kind of bolt catch problem (though I could be wrong) I think it's OK but, I guess I will have to put a couple hundred rounds before I know if it is functioning properly.
