    jig rental

I was wondering if anyone in the Southern California area or on Calguns in general has a jig that I could either rent or borrow?
This is for an 80% TM Ar15 lower

I am in the Irvine area but would be willing to pay for shipping

I have access to a mill, but do not have a jig yet

    Thank you for your help

Do you have the end mills and drill bits?

A family friend owns a hotrod shop and has a Bridgeport mill
I am not exactly sure what he has when it comes to tooling and bits

My Grandfather was a machinist I would would venture to guess he would have all the bits and tooling I would need

I still need to figure out what tooling I need

As you can tell this is my first run with an 80%

most folks are a bit reticent to loan their jigs out, as the novice builder is often a novice machinist as well (not saying anything about the OP or his family friend/helper, just in general that's the case).
jigs wear out and are easy to bugger up if one is not careful or using out of spec tooling. steel bushings and the like certainly help.

if someone made a hardened steel jig that would be the way to go for renting/loaning out... i've actually approached at least one jig maker with the idea, and as you would expect, they would rather sell more aluminum jigs than a few steel ones that everyone share around.

          Joseph,

I am in the area and have a TM jig set. I can assist you with this, but as goober said, hesitance is present. All I require is that it is returned in the same condition that is loaned out in so if any of the top plates are gouged, they must be replaced. The TM top plates are oversize so they shouldn't be touched anyways. Just makes sure you don't go way too far.

PM for detailed if you'd like to work something out. I should be around most of the weekend.
