Psl scope rail need help

All right guy thought i would ask here. I have one of the Romanian made psl receivers with the over sized scope rail. What would be the best way to take down the rail evenly without using a mill. I know mill would be the best I still might go that option, just need to find mill. Oh i`m about to rivet my trunnions in if that makes a difference.

I don't have a link but I have seen posts on other forums for a dovetail file. It can be used to trim the rail but still maintain the same dovetail angle.

I have done that and it works, I ordered a Kalinka mount with the picatinny rails. Milling a rcvr with barrel attached is tuff with a small mill. I put my first PSL together before milling. I looked at the mount filed the 2 small nubs (dovetails) on the lower part of the mount to get a very tight fit. It works just fine. That mount will be for that gun and that's that.

All right thanks guy. I might just install the trunnions not the barrel if I don`t think that would be a problem for the mill work if I have it done. I have an original rail it measures about .155 in width the new one is like .206.

Im in the middle of the same thing. Im within a couple of thousands. Just need a couple more hours of free time. Fitting mine the old hard way. Files.

Just out of curiosity, are you just filing the rail to fit the scope you already bought instead of buying the correct scope? The rails are not oversized, they are made to mount only the scopes that have the correct graduations for the caliber. The SVD, PSL,Tigr, and Romak-3 all have the wider rails.

sry but your not entirely correct, the Romanian psl receivers require some trimming for them to work properly. yes you are correct that they are a different rail system then the ak type rails.

Thanks for the correction. The Romanians must really be loosing it if they're making rails so large that nothing fits without intensive filing or machining. .206 to .155? I'd set that on up on the mill!
