    80% TM AR Lower $.02?

I have done a bit of reading on finishing off an 80% AR lower and am thinking about trying it out.

The lowers from Tactical Machining are cheap, and inviting for a first timer, but I am wondering if anyone has used them and has any opinions or better cheap choice.

    Thanks!

Best non-billet unfinished lowers at any price, and about the most inexpensive to boot. Top-notch product, great company, started by a guy that was just a builder and home gunsmith with a dream. Don't think twice. Buy their product. Often.

I've used their jig before, but not on their lower. The jig was good quality and I would expect the same from the lowers. I'm getting ready to order a few more.

No problems with mine. Great product and with their jig, very straight forward(I used a mill and not a drill press).

I would get the type of lower that the person who is helping you recommends. Most 80% have different features completed(some have selector drilled, some have trigger hole done, some need buffer retainer drilled etc..)If your mentor has done only a certain type, and yours is different,it will add time.I found out the hard way that Tactical Machine's original jig doesnt work with their new 80%.No hole for the selector...

that was much truer a couple years ago. any more, most 80% are pretty much the same. but always good to check.

my TM jig is also 1st gen, w/ no selector hole. can't really blame them for not putting that hole & bushing in their jigs when their lowers had the hole already. it's ATF's fault for changing their minds on the 80% "threshold".

I found the TM 80% 308 magwell tend to be slightly undersized for Magpul LR-308 mags. Had to do some sanding to get it to drop free.

                    colfax tactical!!

I have tried both, but I tend to prefer colfax over TM, both are well made but colfax is local, and any local gun dealer, I have to give the edge to.

Get ahold of them, they will remedy the problem for you. They did for me when I purchased the newer style lowers

3-5 days. TM uses USPS Priority Mail.
