    Help finding some tools

I'm looking for a good tool kit. Something for building ar lowers and uppers. All the punches, roll pin punch set. Stuff like that. I'm starting to get into gunsmithing and just want some good tools. Any recommendations? Just don't want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

        Hmmm...
How far do you want to go to work on things?
A basic set of AR tools would probably run around $200.
This would be a barrrel wrench, butt wrench, vice blocks and holders, a set of punches and some other stuff.
There could be an AR tool "kit" out there somewhere, but it may not have all that you want or need, and may have things you don't want, too.
You also need a workbench and a vise.

I would browse the Brownell's website or get one of their AR specific catalogs and look at the tools offered and think about the jobs you want to do, and what jobs you will pay others to do.
Some jobs will require a mill or lathe, which will definitly cost thousands.

Workbench and vise I have already. Power tools, sanders, lathes, cnc, and welder I will get. I know those will be thousands. Not really worried about those. Just really want hand tools. All the punch sets, screwdrivers, all that kind of stuff. I was looking to see if there is like a gunsmithing kit. With all the hand tools in it. Or best way to do it is buy them piece by piece? And so pretty much just get this stuff from brownells?

I have an ffl and basically want to be a master gunsmith eventually.

                First things first.

Hie yourself ho and get yourself an 03 FFL. Then buy all of the required bits and pieces at dealer pricing .

PM me for further info. Still pissed at paying retail for 20 some years.

Brownells has a bunch of kits. You can either buy a whole kit or do what I did. They list what is in the kit so you just buy the pieces you want

Ok 1 more question, is there say a armorers complete hand tool kit. Not talking about any power tools. Just a tool kit that would have say every hand tool for any gun. Or do I have to buy a bunch of different kits?

Most kits will have a lot of tools in common . I would buy one kit and then specific tools as you need them. Look at the Brownells website to see what i am talking about. A hammer is the same in all kits roll punches are roll punches are roll punches but the punch for a S&W front sight is special.

i think grizzley.com has some gunsmith tools i.e screwdrivers and punches. all of the other stuff you can pick up at any online dealer like midway, brownells or numrich even.

This. And until you NEED one of the tools, you'll never know it's value.
