Your method for AK barrel demilling?

How many of you guys use the hammer and punch method? and how many use a press to remove all those pesky hardened 3mm and the one 4mm RSB pins???

This is the least fun part of making AKs in my opinion. I'm trying to find the best way of demilling the hacked up barrels that still are pinned together. Its annoying.

Hammer and punch method with 2 screws and a special made jig no one can top it.

I use a tapered punch to start them moving and then a straight punch once they are loose. The new condition Bulgarian kits I am selling come appart pretty easily. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=429781

The russian kits I've been messing with need an air hammer to get the pins going.

Thanks for the replies. I never put aside the time to make myself a nice little fixture to hold it nor a set of good punched.

Hammer and punch method with 2 screws and a special made jig no one can top it.

Actually it wasnt too bad, I milled some brass backing in the shape of the front and rear gas block and used a tapered punch first like recommended, worked pretty well. Thanks guys.

personally after trying to remove a romanian barrel pin with an hammer and punch, an a air hammer, an drilling it, i contacted a local calguner in my area who helped me press the pins out on his press what took me hours of failing took him 4 min max to press out the old rivets, press out the barrel pin, andpress out the barrel.
