    MAC10/11 Build Questions

Looking to build a M10 or 11. What besides a closed bolt and semi auto, is required to make it Cal leagal? Can I have the folding stock installed? After reading about firing safely, what does that really mean, in regards to a muzzle brake?

Yes. ATF ruled in 1981 that open bolts were too easy to convert to FA. Since then, no new open bolts can be made without a tax stamp, even though it still only semi-auto. You can own all the pre-1981 open bolts you want, no Fed or CA law against it, just no post-1981 open bolts.

How is the muzzle brake attached without threads?

Most mac barrels are 6 inches long and are threaded. You can just screw the brake on and then weld it. That is the easiest way. There are long barrels but they have hand guards on them so you would need a mag lock then.

They are listed as 6 inches but most actually come up short of that

You need to get the mac 11 SWD closed bolt or the Mac 11 380ACP closed bolt no open bolt semi allowed. All open bolt semi were grandfathered in .

If you want an open bolt, PRKarms in fresno keeps a couple in stock for those of us who like the nasty stuff
