    Rust on parts kit

So I have gotten my Dad involved in building an AK for himself. his kit arrived yesterday and there is some rust and pitting on the bolt carrier and bolt. Not much, but the kits I have bought have all ways been nearly mint.

Looks like it got bad enough to pit the metal. But it should "blast" off with no ill-effect. Build away.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4v9E...layer_embedded watch at 1:40, and that should answer your question as to whether or not it is a problem. But you could blast it off.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure I was being picky and not to worry. this is the only part where there is any rust and it was not on the bolt face.

I have a kit that was exposed and the cover is pitted to hell, the rear sight is close to illegible and pitted like the moon. The inner workings, unfired and immaculate, still had the paper in the barrel. Now if I just had the time to build my own guns.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

Everyone knows you can't build just one.
I am 13 deep, and still sinking with two kits in the garage, and one on the way.
