Question about SIG P228/P229 frames

Does anybody know if parts for SIG P228 and P229 frames are interchangeable? I have an 80% SIG P228 frame that I want to build, but I'm having a problem finding the parts. Alternatively, does anyone know of any SIG P228 parts kits for sale? I remember seeing one on Gunbroker a while back, but I didn't have the frame then. I'd rather use the original parts than those Canadian kits.

im no 'smith ... but i have both a 228 and 229R (9mm) and can swap the slides. I know it has to same caliber though. There is some kind of block in the frame that is a different size in the 40SW and it wont fit on 9mm slide/ frame. Ive also shot it with frame/slide swap. shoots fine for me. But again... I am not an expert or a smith.

All of the frame parts are interchangeable. The slides aren't the same necessarily since the 228's are folded carbon steel, and the 229's are milled stainless.

I carried a P228 as a duty weapon. Sure do miss that pistol. I bought a CPO P229 since I couldn't find a good 228 at the time. You can't go wrong with either.

Good information, thank you. That's pretty much what I needed. Now, on to try and find P229 parts. Machining the frame is going to be fun, too.
