    Krinkov kit

So I found a Krink kit for a whopping $775....ouch. Anyhow I would bite the bullet IF you guys can help me out. Are flats and barrels available for these and if so where? Anything else I might be in for building one of these? After seeing one at the SJ build party I just gotta have one!

I bought that Tula kit, $790 with shipping. Should arrive tomarrow!

Not sure if I'm gonna use a flat or a nodak spud receiver. Either way should be awesome!
I also bought a virgin US barrel from ak-builder, I'm going to go with a full length barrel under a fake can. Maybe the one from IGF.

I wont tell you what I paid for my M92 kit then. I believe AKM barrels can be turned down to work. There was a guy on one of the AK boards for 150ish selling krink barrels but Im not sure of the quality or if he even does it anymore. 775 for a complete (less barrel) Tula or Bulgy kit sounds like a fair price.

I went with a Nodak receiver. I figured if I was spending that kind of coin on a kit I should use the best receiver I could. A flat would work but resale may not be as high as with a Nodak. I guess it would depend on the buyer the kit and the price. Nothing wrong with a flat though. They should be available through AK-Builder.

I have been considering an RGuns Tula kit as well. It not having a barrel is what has keep me from buying.

I would be building mine as a pistol or with a pinned can.

A virgin barrel (no gas port drilled) is the best option next to my original. This could be US but I have heard the E. German barrels are best (if you can find one).

If you go with a barrel that has the gas port drilled, US or maybe a Bulgarian, you will have to weld up the gas port and drill a new one in the correct location.

Whatever route you go if the barrel wasn't profiled for a Krink you will have to do the profiling yourself. Do you have access to a lathe?

If you watch the boards you can find Bulgy Krink kits with original barrel for around $1,100.

Maybe someone with more experience will sound off.

Bought, and built one of the RGuns Tula kits for myself not long ago.
Went with an AK-Builder flat (5.45 side folder without front trunnion holes), and an East German virgin barrel (when Arms of America had them).
I went with a full 16" barrel under an IGF fake can.
There is about 12" of the East German barrel that needs to be re-profiled to work. Don't forget cutting your own extractor cut out on the chamber face, and drilling your gas port too.
After all was said, and done the build is in the $1000-$1100 range but sure a beaut, and fun gun to shoot.
After having some bad luck with American made 5.45 barrels it was a no brainer to go Combloc with the barrel for this build. It was also a no brainer to run a full length rifle barrel inside of the fake can.
After reading about the difference in twist rate required if the barrel is cut down, varying reviews on the US made 8.5" barrels on the other forums, and the need to permanently attach a fake can to it anyway I figured why not get the advantages of a longer barrel with the correct twist rate for that length, and not need to permanently attach the fake can.

I did all the barrel work myself using a drill press, grinder, files, dremel, micrometer, emery cloth, and scotch brite.
It can be done without a lathe but would be much easier, and less time consuming with one.
                Here's mine complete:

Couple of things I noticed that may be helpful to you.
The Russians know how to build them to last.
Pressing the parts off of the cut barrel parts was the tightest I have ever worked with.
Support well because you're gonna need more pressure than your standard AKM de-mill to press them off.
Don't even think about re-finishing the wood.
The finish on the Russian front hand guard of the Tula kit I got is like none other I have ever seen. Like looking into a pool of water. Beautiful.
The Rguns kits do not come with the retaining rivet for the top cover. I fabricated one for my kit but you can get them from KVAR as well.
Lastly take your time, and have fun with it.
                Nico

I JUST picked one of these up too. It's looking like the barrel is gonna be a PITA but this helps a lot.

Barrels are easy to find, k var has a bunch of them. The catch is they already have the barrel parts on there, should be easy enough to sell the parts you don't use or save for a frankenbuild.

K-var seems to be out of 5.45 krink barrels. The thread at AK forum looks interesting! How much would a pro builder charge to build a krink kit?

The market sets itself on builds like this all matching original barrel Bulgy Krink. Don't know exactly how much but it was north of 2K$. That kit alone is worth 1000-1100$ by itself.
BTW, Ted Marshall IS THE GURU and builds some of the finest AK on the planet. He can match just about any Russian roll and proof marks. The man has talked with Mr K himself and toured the Izmash factory. I can only hope to get to where he is.

Wow! It doesn't really get nicer than that krink. Just beautiful. I'll start looking for a Blugy or E. German barrel for my kit. I can't wait to see the wood in person.
