    bending a flat

I have a AK flat and the center support post. Is that all I need to get done (bent) at a build party and the rest I can do at home? I'm waiting on a specific kit from my supplier. My friend has all the stuff he needs for his AK pistol but would like to go together. Is this possible? This is my first AK and I don't know anything.
    Thank you.

you could bend it at your house if you had the stuff. it's just required that the flat be bent by the person who's building it.

there are lots of tools that are generally present at a build party that the first time builder does not own.

a big shop press and a jig for bending the flat are just two of them.

there are also jigs for pressing the barrel out/in, various riveting operations, spot welders for installing the rails, torches for heat treating, blast cabinets and park tanks, etc., etc... plus a whole lot of expertise at the BP that is invaluable.

unless your friend is quite experienced and you have all the needed tools at home, i think planning on just bending your flat at a BP and then doing the rest on your own might be a bit ambitious, if that's what you're planning.

Yes you can bend your flat but you can't install the center support till your rails are welded on, but you can't weld your rails on until you have the front trunnion riveted or clamped in the receiver. I like to install my trigger guard first then adjust the trunnion for magazine fit. Then weld rails. Then center support.
