Another 80% lower finished

I started with the quentin laser billet 80% paper weight and with some basic milling instruction I finished this one tonight!









Used a cnc to clean up the edges and mill some of the smaller sections! Turned out awesome

Do you really need to be using coolant for aluminum?

Or is that compressed air to remove excess chips?

Not sure! Might Try electro etching! My pistol upper is pollished so I may pollish the lower! But I just bought a LAR side charge upper so i may annodize it black! Or strip the annodizing off the brand new upper

Coolant is always a good idea imho. Can you do it without, yeah but why? It keeps your tool cooler and helps flush out chips.

95% of the time I am using carbide.

Beautiful work, I got two of those and a jig collecting dust. I just not sure I trust myself and the drill press method. I'd rather wait till I find access and instruction to a mill.

I like the black. Polished is too flashy for me

I decided to "brush" the aluminum to dull the finish a lil! Done for now! Gonna shoot it this weekend! Gonna go black when I put the side charge upper on

I never really gave much thought to building a pistol....but I really like yours.....might have to get another lower or two and build one when I do the others...
