AK front sight is loose

My new to me and what appears new front sight has a loose front sight windage drum and post. Just to be clear, the front sight carrier is securely mounted and pinned to the barrel. The windage adjustment drum slides left and right with too much ease. Whats the best way to give it some more stiffness? Just mark it up and hammer it back in?

The other thought was to give it a nice salt mist for a week or two.

Is this typical of a new front sight?

Ah, I've had this happen to me before, what you can do is get some loctite and put a few drops in there, that should do the trick! ...

Of course, my AK I returned because of massive failures.... >_> Yours wouldn't happen to be an IO Inc would it?

Knurll as you said - soft solder and sand down to size. Pein some punch craters to create - meteroroite crater raised rings.

I agree with Kala, but run a needle file on the inside of the mount and some rough grit sand paper on the post, it'll make the surfaces bind together...

I did the sandpaper and ran a center punch on it to give some raised areas. Seems good now.
