    Question for a PSL owner

I Am in the middle of putting a PSL kit together and decided to go with the coldsteel solutions blank receiver. My problem is that they have pressed a recessed area on the floor of the receiver just forward of the mag well like found on AK receivers. The indentation was not made very well (off center, to far back, and lop sided) and from what I've seen on line, most other PSL receivrs do not have this indent. I'm trying to find a way to "fix" this and It seems it would be easier to cut this section out and weld it up vs. trying to fix the bad punch job they did. Any help would be great!

It's only cosmetic. I say leave it alone.

I don't really have any problems with doing a little extra work to have it look good. This is a fairly expensive kit, and with the amount of work that is going into a blank receiver I'd rather it look good. I guess what I'm asking is if the "standard" PSL receiver has the indentation before the magwell like the AK47 does? if not I'm ditching it all together, If it does, then I'll cut it out, weld up, and shape to the correct shape.

Be careful welding it if you do. It will warp your receiver a little bit. If you are "lucky" like me, you will have a canted scope by a few degrees if it gets too warped then that will create extra work.

Also the hole locations on the FCG do not work for s*** from their plans. so be careful there too. I think I wrote mine down which I took from measuring an ak builder flat.

These 80% receivers are not for the casual hobbyest imo. It took a lot out of me to get it the way I wanted. Wound up going through 1 before I was happy.

Boy no truer word were spoken, I was fortunate to have built one PSL before the getting a Cold Steel blank. I had another friends Romanian Rcvr unbuilt and my built PSL to compare. It seems that every plan or spec that I looked at was not the same as what I was measuring on the real thing in my hands. I'm fortunate to have a lathe and a mill to use. My CS rcvr is almost complete as I need to have the scope rail that I demilled from the kit TIG'ed to the side of the rcvr before I press the barrel. I machined the center support piece and was going to use it untill I went to buy that small slotting tool to finsh it. $67 for a mill cutter that can snap so easily I said forget that and used a piece of 7 MM metric drill rod drilled 5/32" for my center support. No bolt hold open for me.
