    MAC 11 SWD Build

    Hey everyone.

I'm working on my first MAC build and I'm getting confused by all the different specs and variants out there.

I bought flats for an M/11 9mm, and a jig that acts as a guide for the holes.
The blueprint for the flats says that the M/11 SWD uses the magazine housing (magwell) from the M10/9 BUT it doesn't use the same cuts in the receiver as the M10/9.

I'm not sure I understand how that works, but fine. Cobray sells a M10/9 magazine housing so it's not that big of a deal, and the issue of the cuts will probably make more sense when I see the parts together.

Here's where I'm getting lost - can the frame for an M11/9 SWD use the Cobray M11/9 kit? What magazines do I end up with when this is over? Why the hell are there so many different MAC patterns!!!

Can someone tell me if I've got this right (M/11 9mm frame, using M10/9 magwell, with Cobray M/11 9 parts kit).
I use to be an anarchist but I quit that; there's too many rules.

that should work. You should look for an M11 grip that uses sten mags though. they are cheaper and a lot easier to find. FTF Industries has the grip to use sten mags. If it is not on their website then look on gunbroker because they sell them there also. By using the cobray grip will have to use the plastic Zytel mags.

Also the opening in the bottom of the receiver should be smaller then the magwell opening. it keeps the magazine from wobbling. You have to center the grip over the opening and then weld it.

Okay, so the M10/9 grip is the right grip, even though it doesn't sound like it should be, and the M11/9 parts kit will work with it.

And I should be using M11/9 mags?

I had STEN mags in an AR a while back and I didn't care for them.

I got the flats and the drilling jib from Brian Hatfield - he sells on Gunbroker.

The kit is either coming from FTF Industries or Cobray's site, haven't bought that yet - wanted to clear up my confusion on the magwell first and make sure I can bend the flat.

the kits from FTF are $200 cheaper than cobray.

THE m10/9 grip is the same as an m11/9. The original m11s where .380 and later changed to 9mm. They both use the plastic Zytel mags. the mags have lots of problems like the feed lips cracking. That is why people switch to the sten mags. All of my MACs have sten mag grips on them except my MAC10 which I put a grease gun mag well on since it is a .45.

I had purchased a m11 and m10 kit from FTF. It took a really long time before I got my parts, but what I got was really nice. I think the time from order to box at my door was a little over a month. they took the money that day though. I even started a thread on this forum asking if FTF was even a real company or just scammers. I was told they are hit and miss with shipping times, but normally it takes a long freaking time. In the end the kits worked great, were WAY cheaper than Cobray, and all I had to do was wait... for a whole month.

After reading more reviews of Cobray's customer service (and finally locating RBP's site), I'll probably get the parts kit from them.

                chiz,
So this one would work right?

Just had to drop in here and say that this definitely looks like a kickass build. Little jealous! Would OP do a build thread for us when he gets going? Please?

Since I found their site, and their prices are so much lower than everyone else's, I'll probably get my kit from RBP

Their site for those who haven't seen it.

Also, if they don't have parts you need listed, send them an e-mail - they have lots of stuff that's not on the site yet.

                        Chiz,
Will I need to cut the magazine opening differently for the STEN magwell or do I cut it the same and center it?

If anybody has a complete project build, can you post some pics? Thanks!
