another question regarding the romanian PSL receiver

I got it from centerfire, and I don't quite understand why the Romanian PSL receiver came with trigger guard installed, but no mag release.

It also has the center support installed, but no bolt hold open installed.

is there any legality issue preventing them to install or is it just cost saving for them?

Yup, thats the way they're shipped. I just got another PSL parts kit today. The parts kit comes with a trigger guard with latch and selector stop to be demilled. Have you tried to fit your Bolt and carrier to see if your rails are wide enough. Also the scope mount needs to be milled to fit the scope mount. Make sure that the top cover fits before you rivet the rear trunnion. On one of mine I had to weld up the holes and redrill the rear trunnion holes so that my top cover would be held in tight. It would be a heck of a lot easier to mill the scope rails before you press in your barrel too. Also be very careful of the breech end of the barrel of a parts kit. Do not damage that ring the cartridge butts up to. You need to make a cupped disc to press the barrel out. I rivet the front trunnion and press the Rcvr on the barrel without the rear trunnion in place. I made a barrel block that clamps in front of the RSB and supports the barrel and using a plate and "T" Rcvr holder press the rcvr onto the barrel. Once the barrel is in, bolt the rear trunnion to the stock. Slide the stock into the rcvr. Now fit the top cover and trunnion so the trunnion traps the top cover just slightly. If you're lucky the trunnion holes will line up, mine didn't and I had to weld the holes drilled and redrill to where the trunnion has to be to isure the top cover doesn't come off when firing. Also look closely at the holes where the mag latch pin is supposed to go. My holes were almost a half a hole off so I had to ream one side so the pin (latch) would sit straight and then reweld the hole and redrill. It seems that most of these rcvrs are either seconds or step 2 of a 4 step finishing process. Some of them look like a high school machine shop class did them.....

wow... thanks a lot for all the pointers! yea my parts kit comes with a trigger guard but it has a pretty deep cut. That's why I was hoping the receiver one would already have the mag release.

I tried sliding the bolt and carrier on the rail and seems to be fine, haven't tried to put the top cover on yet. I've heard about the rail. Did you do this on a mill? I don't have access to one and was hoping that there would be an alternative.
