    Kart barrel

I'd like to get a Kart easy fit barrel for my RIA 1911. How much more accurate can I expect this barrel to be as compared to the stock barrel?

I have a USGI contract, Kart NM barrel and bushing fit in a Colt MK IV Ser70. Quite accurate from a ransom rest with H&G 200 wad-cutters. Don't know the actual moa that it shoots, but it will go clean on the NRA pistol course (The gun will, not me). Of course, with a 1911 and standard pistol distances, propper barrel fitting is a much bigger piece of the accuracy pie than the actual grade of barrel.

Karts are probably one of the best barrels available for the 1911. The easy fit may or may not shoot better in your gun.

I've only been shooting a couple years, about 150 rounds a week. < 10 yards is a 1 or 2 inch group, and it opens up to about 5-6" at 25 yards. My Ruger .22 seems to be more accurate, giving me one ragged hole within 10 yards. My purpose in changing out the barrel is twofold; to have a more accurate gun and also to practice gunsmithing. I've already installed a new beavertail grip safety, thumb safety, and hammer and would like to continue learning as I enjoy the 1911 platform.

Get the Kuhnhausen book, even a GI barrel will shoot well when fitted properly.
