Wow espenive little bugger. Since I have access to a lathe and don't care about the barrel length I'll go with the cheaper barrel.

I don't have a lathe but I did consider sending the $50 APEX barrel out to be cut down to 16" and profiled for the SAR components but the cost to do it and the fact that I would end up with a 16" 1:12 I decided against it.

Do you plan on doing a reweld or getting a new receiver?

New receiver. May grab an ORF while there are still some out there or the new CNC Warrior once some reviews are posted.

The reweld thread is what got me motivated to finally buy this kit but I don't have the welding skills to pull it off. I also want a working optics mount.

I think some members have made recent purchases without any issues. Maybe someone will chime in.

I am in no way endorsing Blackthorn, just using them as a reference. Everyone should do there own homework and proceed with caution.

I recently purchased a few items from Blackthorne for a galil/golani. Everything came quickly and as described. However, about a week later, I was charged again for the same products. Blackthorne did send me an email to notify me of the mistake and it was rectified within a day by them with no stress on my part. In any case...I thought it was a weird "mistake" and thought I should mention it just as a heads up.

Man you got a nice kit there, its in better shape then the one I built mine on. The first one I sent back was real bad. The stock was bent, the sight hood and charging handle crushed and the forearm was split and falling off the retainers. What are you going to do for a receiver?

Still haven't made up my mind. May get an ORF while there are still some left. I am also waiting on reviews from the new CNC Warrior receivers.

I credit your reweld write up for getting me moving on this build.

Just wanted to say I ordered one of these and just received the kit tonight. It is in great shape for what it is. Stock locks up solid, all parts are very serviceable with some light surface rust but no major pitting. Only down side is the typical dented charging handle and the junk handguard. Otherwise it is exactly what I wanted. Just wish it was numbers matching, but we can't have everything. Overall I am very happy I purchased this.
