AR flash hider: anyone in/near SF have a bench vise?

i've got a rock river upper with a 16" barrel that's capped off with a smith vortex flash hider, and i can't get the damn thing to wrench off.

i've oiled it, i've kroiled it, i've heated it (about 10 minutes over a burner on the stove) and beated it (not really, just a rhyme) and what have i got for my trouble? nothing but a sore wrist and that nice, dull heated-steel look to the end of the barrel.

i think i got it hot enough to break any loctite that might be down there, but i doubt RRA would have used any (the upper was bought used, but i'm guessing rock river installed the vortex). it's not pinned. i've been maintaining a layer of kroil around the lip at the back end of the FH and leaning it against a wall muzzle-down for about three days now, and nothin'.

i think maybe i just can't get enough torque on this 3/4" box wrench without putting it in a vise, but a) i don't have one and b) i don't have anywhere to install one anyway.

who can help? north peninsula would work. advice is welcome as well.

(the whole point of this is that i'm trying to replace the A2-style front sight/gas block with a YHM flip-sight gas block. i'd prefer to punch a few pins and slide off the existing one instead of being forced to cut it off because the flash hider is in the way.)

Where you at exactly? I'm in Daly City, and have a small vise mounted on a small bench.
