    Sealer for Bedding?

My brother is floating my barrel and reseating as well- Lefty Savage 270.

What kind of wood sealer/varnish etc. should he use that won't contract and expand with humidity/ weather?

Thanks- I don't know much about the process, but he was curious to get some additional input on wood sealers for the bedding/floating process-

    Any advice would be helpful

Any good polyurethane varnish such as Minwax or "spar varnish" like Man O' War, Cabot's or McClosky's. It was common to do the barrel channels in accurized M1 Garands that way. Do it after the glass bedding and before you finish the rest of the stock with tung, BLO, or Birchwood Casey's. First coat of varnish is thinned 50% so it soaks in. Allow to dry fully before applying a regular coat.
