    1911 HELP

I am new to the 1911, I got a RIA GI model, I replaced the grip safety with a drop in beaver tail. I still have the original hammer but it won't cock back, do I need to replace this also? I planned on doing it anyway, but I just wanted to make sure I am not doing something wrong.

A GI hammer is too long to cock with a beavertail grip safety. You can either bob the hammer or replace it with a Commander type hammer.

To save yourself some major heartburn get a hammer and sear that are already
mated like the ones from Cylinder and Slide. A GS is not a drop in part you need to mated it to the trigger bow so it functions.
