    Duracoating a Beretta 92

So I recently purchased a used Beretta 92. The gun has some noticeable wear marks on it and I was thinking about Durocoating the gun. I have never durocoated a gun before and want to know the ins and outs before I undertake this task, so any advice would be helpful (ie. are there any parts i should not durocoat).

The Beretta has a Bruiton (sp?) finish and I am not sure if that makes a difference when durocoating.

    Thanks Guys

Need to get the parts you wanna coat blasted. Duracoat recommends 120 aluminum oxide for this. You can "not do this" and still get a decent durable product, but its better if you do. Really other then that you need some way to spray it and follow the directions for mixing.

As far as where to paint and where not to, well that depends mostly on tolerances. All the outside stuff is ok, but if there is tight tolerances on internal then you might have a problem.

The only real tips I can give is to make sure that your equipment is clean, make sure your parts are clean, hang everything you can, spray a light coat to start, and give plenty of dry time. In most cases you can handle parts in an hour or less, depending on temperature. You can reassembled pretty quickly too, but I'd give it a day or two to reassemble. Duracoat says a week for full cure. I like to give it at least a day before resembling and then longer before I holster it.
    Hope that helps some, Jason
