    vise squad

i've been engaging in some minor projects at home -- tinkering with my M1A, assembling an AR-15 lower -- and i'm running into some things that would be better served with access to a vise.

since i live in an apartment and don't have access to a workbench, i've been eyeing some of the offerings from panavise -- in particular, the vacuum base and the clamp attachment look promising.

    thoughts?

    Panavise...meh.

I live in a small house w/o a garage and need to have a semi-permanent vise. I use one of these and absolutely love it:

I got mine from MSC tools and seem to recall that it was cheaper than the one shown in my link.

see, there you go -- i've been looking for clamp-on alternatives and having a hard time finding good ones. much appreciated.

If you are not going to be torquing and heavy metal shaping and are just looking for a third hand, you may not want to invest an expensive portable vise. If you want to chance it, the cost is more "apartment friendly" at the link below.

Panavise is a GREAT vise... For doing electronics repair like soldering small electrical components.
