    AK 74 optics mount

Is this what I need for my upcoming ak 74 build so I can mount optics?
Anyone have any tips or experiences installing these?

$48 ?? The problem with those are mounting it perfectly flat, if its slanted slightly its going to really mess with your sights. Also with that type of system of the scope is mounted high to clear the dust cover causing poor cheek weld to compensate for high scope.

    I recommend
texas weapon systems, texas weapon systems dog leg rail, tws, tws dogleg, texas weapon systems ak top cover, tws ak rail, top cover rail, ak optic mount, ak scope mount, ak rail

You will be able to get a better cheek weld with this low profile rail. For $130 its rock solid and well made. I have the Gen 1.

Unless your looking for a classic style of AK mounts.

Go to Tantal, Ru Gift, or Kalinka and get a side rail.

        Here's what I put on my Bulgarian 74: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.ph...cat=381&page=1

It looks like the same one you're thinking about getting, for about the same price.

I pretty much followed the procedure outlined on the Buildyourownak videos:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljh8aeYqWuU and

Just like the video, I started with the rear trunnion rivet, then the front, and finished with the center. He uses the AK-Builder jig (as I did) but instead of that turned down bolt (which he talks about ~58 secs into the second video) for the rivet crusher, I just used the bucking bar from the trigger guard riveting jig - it crushed the rivet post nice and flat. I know it wasn't done this way on the video, but I kept my clamp on while crushing the rivets - I didn't have to worry about maintaining alignment while at the same time applying upward pressure so that the rivet head was flat against the inside of the receiver. After crushing the trunnion rivet, the rail can still rotate a tiny bit, so you can make adjustments as needed. Before crushing the front rivet, confirm again that the dimensions between the edge of the receiver and the top of the rivet rail are the same along the entire length of the rail.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

I have the Kalinka BP-02...However, this Monday I am picking up another WASR from jail and ordering the TWS system.

            PROS of side mount:
            Stable
            Strong
            Consistent Zero

            Cons of side mount:
            Must REMOVE TO CLEAN
            See above
            See above
            See above

That is a shot stopper. As I have to spend 3-5 bullets zeroing again. Not major but a pain and waste.

The TWS though flips up and seems stable. I will get it and definitely do the major comparison and be honest and truthful unlike some of the mall ninjas on CGN who read stuff and then pass judgment without even owning either options.

I recently ran an Ultimak gas piston rail on a Bulgarian 74 and even though there site says you don't need a shim I suspect you do. I had a T1 Micro mounted and with the elevation turret turned all the way up @ 50yds I was still about a foot low. I removed and remounted and still the same issue.

Just a caution if you are considering going that route.

The RMP3 is a Soviet mount, so if your kit is Soviet then it would be correct. If you are building a Bulgarian kit the KVAR mount would be correct.

Here are a few pic's of the KVAR Bulgarian mount on a few rifles I built.

Thanks Ryan. It's just a thread cover so the threads on the FSB/GB don't get damaged. I still need to paint it though.
