I used 1/8 carbide bits to cut through the rear trunnion. Use oil to keep the bit cool and help lubricate it. Switch bits often. I recommend using 1/8 over 5/32 since it provides you with a little bit of a lip so you can punch out the rivet, plus some room since the bit will want to move around the hole you are drilling. All you need is just a little bit to grab with a vice grip and you are good to go.

Right on, when my spare trunnion gets here ill give it a try. In the mean time i have been trying to get my barrel pin out.....fun.....I used 1/8 carbide bits to cut through the rear trunnion. Wait on the barrel pin, and front trunnion rivets. Bah ok, so hard to put down sometimes...But yeah i quickly realized it wasn't going to happen so i put it away before i could find a way to damage it..I just get going on something and don't like stopping before its done. Its probably for the best though, The girl friend is starting to look at me funny...I think shes jealous....Must...put....AK....Down...Comment
