    1911 Conversion to 9mm

What parts do I need to convert my .45 cal 1911 springer to a 9mm?

You need a slide, barrel, firing pin, slide stop, ejector, extractor, recoil spring and magazine, you would likely want to get a barrel bushing, recoil spring guide, recoil spring plug, firing pin spring, firing pin retainer, barrel link, link pin, and sights. Generally a 45 and a 9mm/38super take different ejectors but often you can make one work for both. Doing this it becomes fairly easy to go from one caliber to another by changing the entire upper half along with the slide stop and magazine.
    Good Luck

Thanks. I'll probably go for getting an upper half.

The 45acp frame ramp and the 9X19 ramp are not the same. It may be reliable with certain type bullets and not others, usually hollow points, or not reliable at all, you won't know until you try it, after all still a 45acp ramp.

The magazine, The Home Shop Machinist, had an article in their August/September 2010 issue about making a 9mm 1911. It goes through it step by step on how to machine it out from a .45 ACP frame.

Or buy a 38 super and all you need to do is change barrels, and buy 9mm magazines.

Machining the 45acp ramp to accecpt a ramped 9X19 barrel will solve your possible feeding problems, however it will not allow you to go back to your 45acp top end, unless you use a ramped barrel with it as well.
