Gunsmithing and NOT what to do.

Okay, a few beers go by... and I forgot about some parts soaking in brake cleaner... IN A PLASTIC BOWL. (very thin plastic).

Don't get to excited when your gun is apart. And DON'T FORGET to gather your parts before they end up on the table stuck in a pile of melted plastic goo.

If that's the worst thing that you do while gunsmithing, count yourself lucky. I put my gunsmith's kids through private colleges with all the projects that I've messed up.

Ok. How about the time when I left a can of high temp engine paint (with no lid) sitting on my workbench right next to my can of powder blast while cleaning my AR. Can you see where this is going? I grabbed what I thought was breakfree without looking and gave my upper receiver/chamber area a couple long blasts of black paint. I still didn't realize the mistake until I smelled the paint.

          That, sir, was a mess.

Some good stories... Calguns should have a forum for "dumb gun mistakes".
