Da Cheap Yugo AK-47 Barrel

My apologies for the mistaken Country of Origin in the original post....Yugoslavia not Romania. Bought a cheap Yugo used barrel from Centerfire Systems for $14.95 plus $9.99 shipping. Decided to give one a try because others on the forum said they were serviceable. It was worth the $25 to try it. Guess it's the luck of the draw because the one I got is badly galled at the breach-end. Doesn't seem to be usable at all. In fact, if someone used it in a gun I would say it's dangerous. A very pleasant person at Centerfire said I could return it for a refund but that would not replace it with another due to the uncertainty of condition. She also said she worked in shipping for awhile and that many that were shipped were OK. Here are some pics. What do you think?

Hmmm....I ordered three of the Yugo barrels from them yesterday. It was a fairly cheap gamble. I hope to get at least one good one maybe two. We'll see.

I would take Drickel up on his offer. Doesn't look too bad. And possibly usable pending bore condition. Most of that ugly will be hidden anyways. Also looks like the chamber area still has lots of meat

Fix the title, and yes some look bad but have good bores. A few I got didnt even have any galling like that.

Also, it looks usable to me, borderline. Usually the barrel thickness at the chamber is made to withstand double the psi, I would guess you have more than 40k psi worth of metal there, probably 65+ in the shallow areas though that is a ball park with a lot of assumptions.

I corrected the OP title and text. Sorry guys. Was writing that one late at night. I just can't see putting a bunch of work into an AK and sticking a borderline barrel in it. Why take the chance with your face?
