    Colt .45 front site tool....

I'm thinking of replacing the front site on the slide of my .45. It's an older slide.
I know that the older site has the "narrow tenon" and Type Two is the newer "wide tenon".

But is there a way to stake the front site with out that expensive special tool?

I looked at a few of them on the net, they don't look so hard to make. I may fabricate one and give it a go. But before I do that, I thought I would ask for some advice or shortcuts/tips on doing it.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

If you're close to Santa Rosa, you can come use mine (I have the simple version, not the one meant for Trijicon sights). It's pretty hard to get around the dust cover to stake the sight without it.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
