    Leinad Derringers?

Anyone put together one of these Leinad kits that can be found on Gunbroker?

What kist are you referring to?
Also all of the Leinad derringers I have seen are chambered in 45/410 which would make it a no go in CA.

There are a few different models, but I can see that there is one chambered in .38/.357mag
Just kind of looking for people experiences with the kits, regardless of location

I don't think those would be good to go in CA, even in .38/.357. To legally make a pistol in CA, you'd have to make it as a single shot first and it would need a minimum barrel and overall length to avoid manufacturing an "unsafe handgun." I don't think you'd be able to meet those dimensions with the .38/.357 barrel they have. Now they do make an 11" .45LC/.410 barrel, but you'd run into the issue of it being able to fire a fixed shotgun shell.

I think all of the "45/410" guns are rifled and only marked as 45LC.

You could get a blackpowder kit.

              Here's the CA law.

12020 (c)(1) As used in this section, a "short-barreled shotgun" means any of the following:
              (A) A firearm which is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell and having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.
              (B) A firearm which has an overall length of less than 26 inches and which is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell.
              (C) Any weapon made from a shotgun (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if that weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.

If it'll chamber the .410, I think it's a no-no. Best to ask Ke6guj's AOW thread as I know his interpretation of the CA SBS law is pretty good.

I think the general consensus here is that no one has built one from a kit because of the legal issues here, after all, we are in a California gun forum. You would probably get a response to your question in a gun forum that is not region specific.

                    Have you read this thread?

My suggestion would be to contact Ajax22 and see where he's at on this.

I used to have a SxS .357 kit.. I ended up selling it unbuilt as the breech block would have been SUPER hard to machine correctly, not to mention welding is required. I wonder if the guy who bought mine off gunbroker ever built it?
