    Good basic gunsmithing book?

I'd like a book that has the basics of gunsmithing in it. I know every gun is different, but I'm sure there are basics to learn first before digging into specifics.

I DO NOT want to be a gunsmith, but I'd like to know a bit more about the guns I have and how to maintain and tune them better.

This is prompted mostly by the fact that I picked up a new trigger and hammer for my CZ-75b and now I'm looking at them thinking "OK, they are in my hand ... now what?"

Try Gunsmith Kinks or Do it yourself gun repair By Edward A. Matunas.
    Both are good books.

You can find free videos at http://www.brownells.com/ and http://www.midwayusa.com/
Also you can buy a sample video for AGI for just shipping it will give some back ground

That is a tough question to answer. "Basic" gunsmithing books tend to dwell on metal working and stockmaking in general. The modern trend in books is "scope mounting", "recoil pad installation", "sling studs" etc..

For your application, you probably want a book on assembly/disassembly of the CZ-75. Info on fitting parts may need to be gleaned from several books and adapted to your CZ.

There is a Sticky in "General gun discussions" that may be of use.

For your particular task, check out CZ Gunsmithing forums: http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?board=40.0
Another great resource is instructional videos on youtube. Just search for your subject, like "CZ-75 disassembly."

"Gunsmithing" by Roy Dunlap is full of information. Some of it dated, and some of it timeless.

I just re read the original post. Not much in this book for CZ's.
