Smith & Wesson cracked frame.

Well, I guess I will be finding out about S&W's customer service pretty quick. I have a S&W double action 22lr revolver with a cracked frame. No idea how it cracked. I had a S&W 669 (compact 9mm) years ago that cracked, sent it in and they replace the frame and upgraded everything, covered COMPLETELY under warranty. Hopefully the same thing here. (crossing my fingers) I traced the crack with a white crayon, took a couple pics and emailed them in. Now.....I wait. I'll post them here too, what do you all think?

Previous posters are wrong, fireame is in very dangerous condition. S&W won't do a thing for you, I'll buy the paperweight off you. It'll make a nice conversatino piece.

Uhh, I checked all 3 of my S&W revolvers and they have the same "crack". Would it be possible that you are misinterpretting the seam of the side plate that covers the internals as a crack? Check this website for a diagrahm and look at part #5319.

Apparently that's EXACTLY what I did. All of my other revolvers are single action and don't have that. I guess there's just a lot less going on inside a SA vs. DA. I AM relived. Thanks to everyone, even the yahoo that want's to buy my "paper weight."

Yup, the screws that you see hold the plate on. With the plate off the hammer and trigger assemblys move outwards off of their pivots.

No need for awards, Smith makes a snug fitting sideplate then polishes all surfaces so that there is almost no line showing. It's better to ask and get the straight scoop then to not ask at all.

Thanks alot, I appreciate it. All of my other revolvers are SA, I guess there's less going on in a sa. I was VERY bummed for about 20 minutes, now I'm happy again.
