Cleaning question

if I shoot corrosive ammo today can I let my gun/rifle sit untouched for 1 night before cleaning? ( I ran out of cleaning sollution) please help! thanks.

At least scrub it with hot water then oil it down (anything: motor oil, etc.) That will get the corossive salts out.

sorry forgot to state im going out for the night I also have no time....im pissed no time no solvents nothing not even a good bore brush....I need to go to the store. in the morning.

sks shotgun and tt33 all three I know that the shot gun is fine cause the ammo is not corrosive but the other two are.

You should be ok in the mornng. Keep them in a dry area and clean them up first thing.

You had time, you just waited too long for a reply. They'll be fine. I've left my AK's around for a week after shooting yugo. Worst I had to do, was kick the bolt carrier open, no biggie.
They cleaned up.

It is not the end of word. I do see a lot of firearms I think has never bin clean from day one.

If you are up hunting the dip stick of your car or truck will work for oil not the best but it is with you.

and I only shot about 70 rounds through sks and same for the tt33 I keep them very clean all the time. I just ran out of supplies.

really? I dont think they carry M-Pro7 I love that stuff cleans very well/does not stink (i clean in a basement poor ventilation)/and last a long time. I have tried only one other (has a orange bullet for the cap dont know the name) it sucks need a lot to clean/smells bad and pressure can so its hard to get just a tad out. Thanks though I will look into it.

it'll probably be OK... but i don't think there's such a thing as "too little time" for a quick cleaning when you have a good pull-through bore cleaner!

when i shoot milsurp combloc ammo out of my CZ-52 i swab the bore at the range or soon after i get home. the minimum i'll give it is a couple pulls with Windex-wetted patches, a couple dry patches, an oiled patch and another dry one - this only takes about 2-3 minutes tops. make sure to give the breech face a wipe, too, as it gets a lot of primer residue. i'm fond of the Patchworm pull-through kit as it's inexpensive, versatile, and small enough to be truly pocket-sized, and i keep Windex in a little spray bottle from Tap Plastics.

if you shoot lots of corrosive stuff in the SKS make sure to remove the gas piston and tube occasionally and give them a good cleaning. i believe it is recommended to keep the gas system dry, with no oil.
