    PSL kit...

At the San Diego build party tujungatoes showed me how to press a PSL barrel into the built receiver. Back when I bought the parts kit I bought the Romanian receiver for it. The receiver I got is a POS is all I can say. I went ahead with it anyway and now regret it. I should have waited and looked for one made by Nodak Spud. I will have to take another look at it but I was ready to cut it up on the spot. I''ll get it out tomorrow hopefully and take some pics and see if it can be salvaged. The good news is I know how to press the long skinny barrel in now.

I spoke to Curtis and asked him about building PSL flats, he assured me he would work on it to try and make a flat that could be used with most "standard" tooling. I can't wait.

That sux Bob. What happened? I know those receivers require some massaging to get em to go, but damn. It must be pretty serious if you're considering euthanizing the thing.

Damn, and I already bought 2 CSS 80% blanks... Oh well, I'd rather do a flat, I'm not too keen on cutting the magwell with a dremel.

I haven't felt like looking at it since that day when I slid the bolt carrier in and realized that even though the pre drilled front trunion holes lined up perfectly the trunion is canted to the left. Shame on me for not seeing that before. I didn't mind too much that some of the other problems I spotted and dealt with were not good signs.

Nick, I'll be doing some CSS blanks soon and maybe have some feedback as well. Or if the guy starts without me I might have a buyer for some of your blanks.

I'm also looking into doing a PSL build. do they use specific flats for PSLs? I looked on Nodak's website and couldn't find anything for the PSL. I would prefer to buy a flat rather than a receiver to avoid having to transfer through FFLs. Does anyone know what flats will work for the PSL?

Pretty sure center fire is shipping these to CA now. I did a shorty PSL on one, and it went great.

Cutting the mag well is not as bad as it sounds, just measure twice, and take your time. I know looking at the raw blank is like looking at the top of a mountain from its base, but trust me, once you get to the summit, its worth the view, and once its complete the feeling of accomplishment is second to none, you can't help but smile once that first round hits the target. If you thought building AK's is/was addictive, then PSL's are like crack on steroids, two built, one to build and If CFS has more kits at some point then kit #4 has a blank waiting ;-)

I stopped just short of euthanizing this frigging FPK receiver today. Instead so far I've drilled out the 2 magwell rivets and the long bottom one in the front trunion. I'm going to go out in the garage now and see about pressing the barrel back out. Working with something that was made defective in the first place is not my idea of fun.

The barrel is too long for the only way I know of pressing it out on my 12 ton press so it was the BFH method.

With this arrangement. I don't remember who to credit for welding this arrangement. I think it use to have a brass nut and jam nut but I've using my bubba fitting on it. brass is soft enough and disposable.

And now the barrel is out...
