I have a CMMG ramped 9mm bolt in my Colt RAW lower. At the range I had the hammer following the bolt home. lucky it didn't get NFA on me. the lower is factory large pin colt receiver. so there is nothing much I can fiddle with. So I mic the CMMG bolt, the "floor" of the bolt carrier is .02" higher on then the original 5.56 bolt I had in the gun, so it is not pushing the hammer down far enough to engage the disconnector. Well then i took a file and start raising the disconnect "hook" by about .01 inch. ( making sure the angle is the same. ) Well i got the bug worked out, but have bare metal on the disconnector. do I need to harden the surface or at least refinish it? or just polish it smooth and leave it as is?

Just polish it, and keep a layer of oil on it. You'll be fine.
If you shoot any corrosive ammo through it, show the disconnector a little extra love, as it is naked.-A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.*
