    Problematic timney trigger, how to fix?

    Instead of sending the thing to timney, I'd rather just do it myself.

    Ok, so the problem is that after the trigger has been pulled, the hammer is cocked back again, and I let up on the trigger for it to reset and... nothing. Forcibly push forward on the trigger sometimes and it resets, flip the safety on and back off then it resets.

    So I take the upper off and cock the hammer back to take a look and see what's going on. Basically the disconnector sticks. When I let go to the trigger I can see the hammer make a very minute movement, but the disconnector is still clamped down on it. From the looks of it, I just need to screw in the set screw on the front of the disconnector 1/8-1/2 a turn until it can catch the hammer and actually let go when I let go of the trigger.

    Now my problem is, that I cannot figure out what size hex screw is used for the disconnector set screw. The 1/16 is too big, and even the .050 I have is too big(and that's the smallest I have). Anyone have any idea, or can check? Google turns up nothing.

    You can get both metric and SAE allen sets for 6 bucks at Home Depo. Not sure which Timney is offhand. Turn the set screw until the disconnector barely drops the hammer when the trigger is untouched. A little rub is best. You should feel alittle friction when you manually reset the hammer into the disconnector, But the DC should not catch it. (finger off trigger)a slight turn in and it should catch. Alittle at a time out until it drops. Keep in mind that this adjustment depends on the 1st adjustment (overtravel) being correct beforehand. If the overtravel in incorrect, The DC timing will be off. The safety is adjusted only after these 2 are correct. You should start from the overtravel adjustment and go from there because each adjustment effects the other.

    Locktight should have been applied to all the set screws to prevent movement under repeated recoil. Any set screw readjusted should be removed, cleaned, and locktighted again. A FCG is not as simple as turning a screw. If this is a drop in, I would send it back in order to avoid voiding the warranty or having an unsafe weapon, Or have a gunsmith adjust it. Your lower may be alittle out of spec. How well did the pins line up? Is this a drop in or a 3 piece?

        It's a drop-in trigger, the problem about the allen keys is that everything appears to be SAE, and I already have one that's 0.050"(smaller than 1/16") and it's too big for the screw. Yes it appears to be loctited down, I can handle that with a soldering iron.

        The problem is, I need to know what size the allen wrench is. No, it was not an issue in this lower with the stock trigger either.
