    PSL BUILD PARTY

    Hey Fellas,

Wanted to see how many people would be interested in a PSI Build? We would need someone to host the event who has the proper equipment etc and would need experienced builders to attend the event obviously to show less experienced builders the ropes.

Also what U.S parts could be used for the build and where can they be obtained from?

If someone could also post info on what type of flats or 80% to use and where the flats can be purchased from etc.. I know some of this has been covered but figured would be nice to get it under a thread where there is interest of a PSI Build.

Also what Rivit sets would need to be purchased along w/ any other pertinent information.

Tapco FCG (3 parts) U.S stock set(2 parts) Blank (1 part) Muzzle device (1 part)...you could also have a gas piston fabbed pretty easily if you really wanted to. The PSL in standard configuration has one less part counted than an AKM due to the thumb hole stock. So you only need to replace 5 parts. FCG's, and muzzle brakes are available from just about anywhere. they're the same as a standard AK. US furniture can be had fromRhineland arms and probably others, but that's the one I know.

If someone could also post info on what type of flats or 80% to use and where the flats can be purchased from etc.

Currently there are no Flats available. 80% blanks can be had from http://www.coldsteelsolutionsincorporated.com/

PSL rivets can be had from http://www.ak-builder.com/index.php The rear trunnion rivets will have to be shortened, or a larger divot made in the bucking bar of most long rivet tools as the head formed will be larger.

Thats about as much as I learned helping Grossekatz with his PSL build. It's really not much more complicated than a regular AKM. If you buy a coldsteel blank, and fit your parts ahead of time there's really no reason you shouldn't be able complete it at any build party. All non-standard tooling can easily be built at home.

I got the CSS receiver blank (two of them actually), all the compliance parts, and a very nice kit. Just need to build it now.

When you're buying the CSS receiver blank, don't forget to buy the rails, they're sold separately.

Thanks for the info. What parts would need to be fitted and what special tooling would need to be made? I have only done one build and it was a Romi G so I'm still kind of a newbie but definitly hooked

parts that need to be fitted = ALL

When they say "blank" they arent kidding. you get a bent piece of metal. Thats it. youll have to cut all the openings, and drill every hole in the receiver yourself. A 100% from CFS saves a lot of work. as for tooling. I copied johnbrian's jig for pressing the barrel back in. do a search for his posts, and you'll find it.

I was just thinkinjg about this the other day. I was looking around online and it looks like you can almost buy one cheaper than a build. I have never done a build before and have been wanting to so I would be down. I would be in for a So Cal build if I can fund it and get time off work. LOL

Found a B.P. I think Croc4 posted it previously. Not sure how accurate it is.
