Need help fitting a 1911 thumb safety

    Hello all,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Just got a new Springfield EMP and got a chance to run 200 rounds through it yesterday. Great gun, very accurate but I hate the ambi safety. From what i have read it will take a standard safety so I am going to order a Wilson narrow version to keep the small profile but i have no idea how to install it. These require a small bit of fitting. Apparently their is a small area that needs to be fitted but I am not sure how it is fitted and at what angles. Is their a gig that is needed, a specific stone, file ect..? Is their someone in the Bay Area that can help me fit it? Thanks, Sammy

A thumb safety really should be installed by someone that knows what they are doing. With that said, here's a Youtube video that shows some of the pitfalls.
