    Barrel removal help

    Its an AR .308

    Got the float tube off.

Got the barrel nut off (had to use a torque wrench and heat until the very last turn... Thing did not want to budge).

I expected to see red locktite on the threads as hard as it was to get it off, but Id never heard of anybody doing that before.

Instead there is a silvery material.... I cant tell if the threads on the receiver are stripped (no biggie, I plan to replace it) or some sort of crush washer got threaded over the receiver threads, or if its some kind of silver solder.... tried to put the barrel nut on and it is very rough... Feels like it wants to cross thread, and id have to use torque all the way back on....

    Regardless, BARREL WONT BUDGE.

    Tips?

Tapped it out using a drift on the shelf of the barrel... Looks like the barrel extension had red loctite on it... Add to that that the receiver threads (and maybe the receiver itself) were all Screwed up, its amazing the thing ever came off.

Glad I wanted a new receiver anyways.... Because that one looks like its toast.

        Barrel should be fine.
