    MKIII 22/45 - Found it

After taking apart my 22/45 I'm having a heck of a time getting it together correctly. The only tension on the trigger I'm getting is from the trigger spring/plunger...it's not engaging whatsoever.

After reinstalling the sear according to these instructions:

I then went to install the hammer according based on these instructions:

One thing i noticed is that when you install the sear, it says to keep the long end of the sear spring to the left of the pivot pin, yet when you install the hammer, it says to keep the long end of the sear spring to the right of the pivot pin!

When I look at the Ruger manual, I noticed these instructions also don't account for the mag disconnect assembly.

I"m sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking but can anyone clarify which one is correct (long end of the sear spring to the left or right of the pivot pin?) and anything else I need to do to get the hammer/sear to engage correctly? Anything else I'm missing?

More detailed assembly for those interested

Use the guntalk instructions, click on the pictures to enlarge. The leg of the sear spring goes to the rear of the frame when you slide the pin in.

I know this thing seems like a pain to take town and assemble but in the first week I had mine I had it apart so many times I couldn't count. I did several mods and upgrades and it's awesome. I can take it apart and strip in to the bare frame in under 2 minutes. Just keep doing it and you will be the same way. Above all things, get rid of the stupid mag disconnect.

This is my first 22/45 but am having alot of fun with it. I've stripped it a couple times now and like you say, i think it's pretty easy now. +1 on the mag disconnect. Now I just need an ejector so i don't have to pry the dang mag out with my stubby fingernails everytime i need to reload.

The magazine safety/disconnect is what keeps the magazine from dropping freely. If you get rid of that, the magazine will fly out the bottom when you hit the release. Don't forget the loaded chamber indicator. You may want to remove a part from that too.
