Damn man, if you guys really need these flats, get a pattern or an accurate lay out with all the numbers and order some .050" 4130 from McMaster Carr and make your own.

You do this for a living, and you've worked with sheet metal before. I do IT, need I say more?

OK I laughed, but if anybody has a template send it to me. I can't promise anything but the last shop I worked at has a laser that can blow out any type of fitting (receiver) I want. The only thing I have to go off of is a few AK builder 47 and 74 flats. If the Chinese flats are that much different then I'll need some sort of template, or at least a drawing that I can layout.

My "interested party" ended up welding up holes on a standard .47 AKB flat, used regular rivets, and built his months ago.

Well, it is the "next month"... As Mach pointed out though, we've heard that before. Dammit, that Chinese kit is just collecting dust waiting to be built

Wow, I just read four pages of Chinese AK information and I don't think anymore coils fit in my head.

I'm interested in one these flats when they come out in the next couple of weeks!

Any additional info on the turbo flats or just modifying a standard AKM flat to fit if these never come through?

I talked to turbo last week. Only thing I can add is the receivers will be sent out to be professionally heat treated. I don't think he will be selling flats.

                    Edit..

                        Akbuilder is making the flats.

What is the main reason that we cannot use the standard AK-47\AKM flats\receiver? If the trunnion rivet holes are not drilled could you use one?

Also, from what I have the original stamped Norinco receiver were 1.6mm, does it make a huge difference that these new ones are suppose to be 1.3mm? Will it increase the likely hood of the receiver failing? I also read that not all the Norinco MAK-90s had an angled\slanted receiver. Will it matter which kit you have slanted vs. box?

There were some mak90 that were made on akm receivers. They were made by CAI. The receiver was a Egyptian maadi and the parts were from cut up Mak 90s that were sold after they were stuck in customs during the clinton ban. CAI bought most of those kits then reassembled them on the maadi receivers they had.
It should work but the original spec / thicker one is far better. There probably needs to be mods to the parts or the receiver if you use a euro akm spec receiver.
1.6 were the USA ones, like armory USA and elk river tool and die used to make. I think 1.3 is the correct replacement. I don't have calipers to check, sadly.. lol!
No it won't matter if yours is slant. Unless you rear trunnion has a tang welded on it. Then that rear trunnion was originally a underfolder one but had a tang welded on for a thumbhole stock.
Akbuilder isn't making a underfolder flat as far as I know. It is more complicated. You can get a undefolder receiver from turbo though..

I broke down and called Curtis today.

The flats are pretty much done. He just needs to program the mil to roll the edges over and create a new die to bend the flats. They just finished a move, and hr is getting caught up, so maybe like another month or so. Since the only real market for them is California they're not really on the top of the priority list.
