Polymer clay

Is polymer clay tough enough, once cured, to be used on the grip of a handgun? I'd like to form a little custom shaped extension on my magazine for my XD, but was wondering if polymer clay could stand up to the abuse.

If you're thinking something like Sculpey clay, it might just work. It's somewhat brittle when cured but it's so cheap it's worth a try. Takes paint pretty well too. I used it to prototype the Hammerhead AR-15 grip. While I never used it to fire any rounds, it was strong enough to screw in a buttstock and bolt to a receiver and wave it around.
