    7.62x39 Issues

    Hey all,

Im having issues with my ershaw 7.62x39 upper. It will not shoot the cheap berdan primed shells. It dimples the primer, but does not fire.

When I shoot regular boxer primed shells, the rounds fire exactly like they are suppose to, without any issues.

What is the issue? Can I buy an after market firing pin to solve this issue? Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.

would it be a firing pin issue or a firing pin spring issue. Maybe the spring is too light?

      Stiffer hammer spring.
Commie ammo made for Commie boom stick.
Really need to pound the crap out of the primer to reliably touch off the round.
      Surplus ammo caveat.

I dont think it is a spring issue. The firing pin is free floating without any springs.

You likely need a stronger hammer spring. Those berdan primers are tough.

This is a known issue. Heavier hammer springs are not the answer.
