Need info regarding Magpul PRS on AR-15

    Hey fellow Calgunnes,

Just purchased a Magpul PRS to replace the A2 stock on my AR-15 flattop. The instructions that came with the Magpul indicate "Make sure an M16 Rifle Receiver Extension, Rifle Buffer and Rifle Action Spring are installed. If not, replace them with the correct parts to armorer specification". There's a diagram next to this instruction indication the Correct Receiver Extension vs Incorrect Receiver Extensiion. By looking at the diagram and comparing to my AR, it seems I have the right one. But what is the Rifle Buffer and Rifle Action Spring ?

Also, the PRS stock fits nicely on the existing receiver extension BUT the "Venter Mounting Screw" provided doesn't screw into the receiver extension and the instructions specifically say "DO NOT use any other screw to mount the PRS as it may affect weapon cycling or damage the stock".

Does this mean I need a whole new receiver extension + Rifle Buffer + Rifle Action Spring and where can I get one that works with this PRS ? Or am I just totally confused ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You're fine if you were using an A2 stock. You have a rifle buffer, tube and spring

ok, assuming I do have the buffer, tube and spring, I still can't use the Magpul provided "Vented Mounting Screw" as it seems the thread pattern doesn't match. Is there a different screw I need or.... ?

what they mean by rifle length stock is a full length stock vs a carbine length ie collapsible stock. here is a youtube video that will help you install the video, he talks abunch at the start so skip to 1:50.
