So i just bought a few m70ab2 barrels just wondering if these things will fit on an akm kit. Basically im trying to build an ak for as little as possible just to see what it will cost. so i found these barrels at centerfire systems for 10 bucks each. there a little dark but they will do. so just looking for some ideas on a cheapo ak build. from what i read the yugo underfolder barrel is too thick for the akm trunion but some people have said that you can mod the front trunion to make it a little bigger. any ideas on that? What about the kit ive seen some bulgarian ak47 kits for 100 dollars could i make that work with the yugo barrel just looking for some ideas here. thanks

I just made a build using one of these with a romanian akm kit.
Took about 3 hours on the lathe then another 15 min on the mill to relocate the pin grooves.
Cheap but lots of work.

Including tax and shipping, right around 3 bills.
Probably can do it for around 250 to replicate with the $100 kits.Comment

The yugo barrel shank is actually smaller than a regular akm if i remember correctly. by a whopping 0.002". should still be a 0.001" press fit in a romy trunnion. measure you're parts first. It's the sights and gas block where the barrel diameter is larger. If you're planning on using romy parts to populate the barrel, you'll have to re-profile it.
are those barrels you got galled all to hell? both the ones they sent me were tore up pretty good behind the barrel pin.sigpicOriginally posted by Dr. ElkyIf your a man who wears white sunglasses, your probably a douche bagOriginally posted by CSACANNONEERI've been know to cross dress and go the other way at certain events.Comment

Yugo profile:

Romy, Egyptian, etc. Profile:

I have used an M-70 barrel re-profiled, and cut down for a pistol build using Egyptian RSB,Hand Guard retainer, and front trunnion. Bulgarian FSB/GB combo, and re-threaded for 14x1 LH threads.
Fit pretty good in the Egyptian front trunnion (still a press fit but not as tight as a Romy barrel would have been).
So..........Sure. It can be done.
