EXTREMELY motivational. I always get a kick out of seeing people building out their own. VadarSpade has it DOWN, and it looks like you do too. I'm envious but hope some day to be able to do similar. Thanks for sharing. It is nice to be able to live vicariously through other calgunners! haha.

I'm intentionally light on details... It takes a bit to get from A to Z, there is a lot running in the background... You need to be able to convert an idea to a graphics file; You need to be able to convert that graphics file to machine code, you need to be able to setup, operate and monitor the machine... you basicly have three areas of expertise which all interact.

Don't get me wrong it's not hard, but to explain it all in a paragraph or less isn't easy....

Anyways...
I'm using a Taig benchtop CNC machine, it's setup with an ER16 Tooling, controlled with Mach3 software, I mostly generate code using Lazy Cam and self, and I create graphics using Adobe, Corel, and AudoCad programs...

If anyone has a specific question, if I can I will answer...

I'm very fluent in design software so making a vector would be cake (in fact i have some things ready to go)...i would need to learn the whole conversion to the machine which im assuming wouldn't take me long.

I am going to attempt electro etching some stuff with designs from my vinyl cutter onto my BCG and dust cover

I wouldn't mind taking a trip to see your settup in action! Haha

Im trying to import the design in lazycam, but when i loaded it up all the curves are converted to straight lines on the render.

Edit: nvm. After watching some youtube tutorials i found .dxf would not work and .wmf brought in the curves..

This is fun now i need a mill lol. I had a guy who would do engravings for me, but only knew text and not design. I tried to load my vector onto his machine and i was like wtf im doing...if only we were on good terms now i could get stuff to my machinist. (he drilled a hole into my noveske barrel haha)

I use 20, 25, and 30 degree tools...
Both of the above were done with a 20 degree tool.

CNC engraving can be fun.

I've been using a .015" square endmill @ .007" depth



This one was at .020" depth on a test block. Turned out much better.
