RPK74 Trigger Problem

Got the Tapco G2 trigger installed in my Bulgarian RPK74 and have a problem. The bolt does not push the hammer down far enough to be caught by the disconnector. Here is the amount of material needed to push the hammer down to the level of being locked with the disconnector...


Am I doing something wrong, or does the RPK require a different trigger? This is a numbers matching set. Unfortunately it didnt come with a trigger, so I have nothing to compare to.

I think that mod was a bit hasty. Did you check disconnector engagement?

It wasnt a mod, it was just for checking. It is no longer on the bolt. There is no problem when I lock the hammer back with my finger, but racking the bolt does not result in a reset hammer. I can clearly see the hammer not being pushed down far enough to engage the disconnector.

The mod you are looking for is on hammer shelf and disconnector hook. Have a look here:

Thanks so much for the link valleyrat. I was actually able to solve the problem much more easily than the instructions there though....3 steps actually

1 - remove backwards-installed hammer
2 - rotate 180 degrees
3 - reinstall hammer

Yeah, I had a buddy do that. He was crying about how the receiver I transferred to him was out of spec and that he was going to chop it up right away because a flat is WAAAAY better.......Brought it over, I flipped the hammer and he was 2" tall.

haha ya, one thing i pride myself in is only making mistakes once, so hopefully there are no repeats :-P
