80% lower SNAFU

Im the process of milling out a few 80% receivers with some friends.

One of them ended up with the trigger slot about an eighth inch or so off set from the center.

Any easy solutions? Will patching with a filler (like a commercial grade bondo type material) or other epoxy suffice?

Nobody is going to battle with these things, so the solution doesent need to be "good as new"

if you guys want it filled use http://durafix.com/ ive done it on a lower i wrecked. stronger as hell. stronger then before if you ask me. But the melting point is way lower then alum

Slot shouldn't matter, just fill it up and cut it again

TIG it shut. I've had large "oops" holes in manifolds welded up for $20. And its the same material as the part.

Be careful with that, you need to match the filler with the use, if your anodizing you'll need to push the filler that will take the surface treatment.

If the lower is 6061, no big deal, just watch for warpage.
If it's 7075, requires a lot more care/special setup to weld......

Your right. But at least this filler would take more ano than ANY epoxy.

Its the trigger slot. If it will just be an asthetic issue we will probably just leave it be

the trigger slots no big deal. as long as you mill it open large enough to clear the trigger pull youre fine. you can have the whole thing milled open if you want... the only problem is getting dirt in there. My 80% trigger slot looks like a 5 year old used a hand drill to open it. I didnt feel like measuring the slot so i eyeballed it,drilled a hole,and milled it with the endmill since i just spent 30 mins milling the firing control pocket. Just leave it. it adds character

Leave it big, no body is going to care or notice. Tell them its a aqueous extraction slot
