    Help Building an AK

Hello, I have acquired all the parts I need to build me an AK-47. The only thing I don't have, is the confidence to build it without any help. If there are any willing folks out there with the tools and knowhow that can help me build this thing it would be much appreciated. I don't know what to offer for compensation, a very grateful kalifornian? Dinner? Some ammo? :-)

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't say build parties up here are numerous, but if you're willing to drive for an hour or two, they're regular enough. You just missed the cutoff for one but you could contact the host and see about standing by for any cancellations.

You could also pay a professional to build it for you and know that you'll be getting a quality job. There's lots of them who are site regulars and some have their own subforums.

There are also members that offer one-on-one build help. User "Woodey" is the closest to you (that I know of).

A Build Party is the cheapest way to do it. Read up and be ready for the next one that is in your traveling range.

build parties are the way to go, learn lots of good info from different people and you get a chance to make new friends.

Ask to be put on the waiting list. If somebody doesn't come up with the cash or drops out ya may get in.

I read and researched for quite a while before I began building mine. Check out the 'Gunsmithing And Build It Yourself' forum on the following site as it has answers to just about any question you'll have.

Get to know those parts inside and out and how they all go together ( the AK is a pretty simple design ) and you'll have an easier time in putting your rifle together. +1 for attending a build party ( I only found out about them after I finished - figures ).
