Franken-AK Pistol Question

OK, so I'm nearly finished with my first build and I'm already itching to do another. This time I'd like to do a pistol but I have a rather odd idea for the build.

I'd like to use a cut down RPK barrel. Don't mind the why of it, it's pure aesthetic and I'd like to have the heavier barrel. I've also got a line on a cheap Yugo barrel so that's just a double bonus.

So, is this even possible? Would I need to mix and match trunnions from an M72 or will it fit into any other AK trunnion? I figure I could probably get the rear and front trunnion from an M72 but if I can't I'd like to see if I have other options.

I did a yugo kit into a pistol, just pulled everything off the barrel, pulled the barrel and turned it down to proper dimensions, also cut the handguard a notch to shorten the overall length, and cut the rod on the bolt carrier and welded it back shorter! It's a fun toy! Big flash

Thanks for the response, but I'm assuming you used an M70 and standard barrel? I'm trying to figure out if an RPK barrel will fit into other trunnions.

I did a Franken AK pistol.
Shoots great too!
Romy Rear trunnion, Egyptian front trunnion, RSB, Dust cover, bolt, and carrier, Yugo M-70 barrel (cut, and turned to new needed profile), Bulgy FSB/GB, and FH, Chinese 30 rd rebuilds cut, and blocked to make 10/20s, US receiver, pistol grip, and (cut, and modified) UTG quad rail.

Shot it this morning at 50, and 100 yards.
Groups at 50 (10 shots) at about 3-4", and at 100: 7-8 out of 10 into a 6" target.
Unsure of the chamber diameter of the RPK barrel but the Yugo worked in an Egyptian front trunnion.

That [link] will give you the sizes. Use the barrel OD size for the trunnion ID size.

So follow up question, if I use an M72 front trunnion what are my limitations for rear trunnions? I'm assuming I'd have to use either an M70 or M72 because they're meant for the thicker receiver.

Rguns had M72 trunnions, gas blocks, sights etc.

Actually, taking a closer look at things I'm guessing I'd want to stick to an M70/M72 fixed stock rear trunnion or use a pistol trunnion. I don't think any of the other trunnions would look quite right on a pistol.
